The question of identity seems to become more and more prevalent in our generation. Who are we? What defines us? What will the set of us generations to come? What is our Legacy?
For so many of us we tend to find our identity in what we do. For example: we find our Identity in What we have accomplished or, what we went to school for, perhaps in who we helped. Maybe even in what cause we stand for.
The amazing part is well all of these areas give us a fleeting sense of accomplishment, it is just that fleeting. Dust and air and vanity under the sun. The reason is this: everything that we do and everything that we live for can change in an instant. We could have a horrible car accident, lose our ability to walk, what of our vocation then? If our identity is found just in the things that we do, whenever our world gets shaken,( and it will) What then shall we say of ourselves. What will be our purpose and what will we have to live for when everything has to change.
However, if we find our identity in the person of Jesus Christ it doesn’t matter what happens. It will not matter what changes. We are known as daughters and a son first and foremost. And we will always be anchored in that no matter what storm life throws at us.
